Tools You’ll Need

  • Level
  • Tape measure
  • Cordless drill with Phillips bit
  • 1/8″ drill bit
  • 1/4″ and 9mm sockets
  • Utility knife or scissors
  • Lighter (to seal rope ends)
  • Two ladders or step stools
  • Graphite Pencil

Optional: Hacksaw (for cutting tracks, if needed)

Outside Mounting

Step 1: Side Tracks & Zippers

  • Position the Tracks: Take one vertical side track and align it precisely with the face of the vertical support. Ensure the track is perfectly flush with the inside edge of your existing porch posts.
  • Verify Zipper Orientation: The designated opening for the zipper insert must face the top of the installation area. If the zipper strip isn’t pre-loaded, slide it into the track now.
  • Establish Floor Clearance: To allow for proper panel movement, measure and set the bottom of the track 1/2 inch up from the floor surface. Mark this starting point clearly.
  • Secure the Track: Use 2″ sheet metal screws for a solid hold. Place the first screw 1″ down from the top and the second 1″ up from the bottom. Continue fastening a screw every 12″ between these two points for robust, stable attachment.

Inside Mounting

Step 1: Side Tracks & Zippers

  • Position the Tracks: Secure the vertical side track onto the inside surface of the vertical support. The track’s front face should be flush with the existing porch posts.
  • Verify Zipper Orientation: Ensure the zipper insert opening is aimed upward. If needed, slide the zipper component completely into the track channel.
  • Establishing Floor Clearance: Measure and install the bottom of the track exactly 1/2 inch off the floor to ensure proper clearance.
  • Securing the Track: Use 2″ sheet metal screws to secure the track. Place the first screw 1″down from the top and the last 1″ up from the bottom. Fasten every 12″ between these end points.

Outside Mounting

Step 2: Curtain Panels

  • Positioning: Working with a partner, gently lift and slowly unroll each curtain panel. Move it carefully to its intended location within the track system.
  • Initial Retention: To keep the panel upright and centered, zip up just a few inches on each side. This prevents it from shifting while you work on the top track.
  • Top Track Alignment: With the curtain held by the side zippers, lift the top track into position. It is critical to keep the panel centered as you bring the top track up.
  • Finalize Height: Once the track is perfectly aligned and centered, raise it to the final height. Use the 2″ screws to secure both ends immediately.
  • Secure and Set: After mounting, fully zip both sides of the curtain panel from top to bottom.

Step 3: Pulley System

Each curtain includes a pulley kit with:

  • 1 Cleat
  • 1 Single pulley (with 1/2″ nylon spacer)
  • 2 Double pulleys (with 1″ nylon spacers)
  • 3 Steel washers
  • 3″ Screws for mounting

Pulley Configuration (Right-Side Tie-Off)

  • Far Right Aperture: Must be fitted with a Double Pulley.
  • Center Aperture: Must be fitted with a Double Pulley.
  • Far Left Aperture: Must be fitted with a Single Pulley.

Note: Reverse this component layout entirely for a left-side tie-off requirement.

Cord Routing:

  • Install the Cords: Feed the cords from the attachment point around the rear of the curtain panel.
  • Cord Configuration: Direct them under the base bar, then up the front face of the curtain to the installed pulley system.
  • Engage the Pulleys: Run the cords through the designated channels of the pulley assembly.
  • Terminal Lead: Guide the working cords horizontally across the header, and then vertically down the post to secure them at the cleat location.

Outside & Inside Mounting

Step 4: Cleat

  • Placement for Access: Install the cord cleat on the vertical post at a height that is comfortable and easily reached by all users, typically between 36 and 52 inches from the ground.
  • Securing the System: Once the panel is raised, wrap the cords tightly around the cleat four to five times. This ensures a secure hold that will not slip.
  • Preventing Fraying: To ensure durability, cut off any extra cord slack. Use a lighter to gently seal the cut ends, which prevents the cord from fraying over time.
